This is what we are finding in the aftermath of Hurricane Debby. << Volunteers are Needed >> to support partner organizations who are actively serving the communities of Sarasota, FL, Westfield, PA, and Savannah, GA. See our 'Active Organizations' below for how you can get connected to support! If you are leading an operation where volunteers or resources are needed, please share with us RESPONSE NOTIFICATION.
Update: 08/05/2024: At least five deaths are being attributed to Hurricane Debby as the now-tropical storm continues to slowly churn off to the northeast after making landfall along Florida’s Big Bend region early Monday morning. The Category 1 hurricane made landfall near the community of Steinhatchee around 7 a.m. ET with winds estimated to be around 80 mph, but Debby has since weakened to around a minimal tropical storm. Hope Force has an assessment team in-route to Sarasota. We got a report late last night of upwards of 1000 homes flooded across several neighborhoods. We hope to have more of a grasp of things by dinner time.
Lucama, NC sustained damage from a strong, but relatively short lived tornado early this morning. Current reports (as of 7:00am this morning) are: the middle school received significant damage, and at least 10 homes are damaged with some possibly destroyed.
I just uploaded this to our team chat here at Hope Force: Latest update at 1000CDT from nhc.noaa.gov has TS Debby at 31.54N 81.00W, or just SW of Tybee Island, GA. On her current track, she's crossed Wassaw Sound, briefly crossed Little Tybee Island/ Cabbage Island, then onto Tybee Island, where TS Debby should actually be entering the Atlantic around now-ish.
Good morning everyone! We are hearing of flooding challenges from SW Florida to the coast of South Carolina. Today is assessment and/or positioning day for many of you. If you can update the website or app as soon as possible it will not only provide us an opportunity to move people and finances in your direction, but it will assist everyone else in positioning. As you hear of needs that may require additional support, please let everyone on this page know.
We value you guys! Let’s go love people well and love them into the Kingdom!!
